There are an increasing number of flights to and from Geneva from a range of UK airports. A few guidelines to help you:
- The general rule is book early to get the cheapest seats, particularly
for peak weeks.
- "Low Cost" airlines are not always the cheapest, don't overlook BA and
Swiss.
- Low headline rates do not necessarily mean a cheap flight. Taxes
and administration charges vary enormously.
- Most low cost airlines release their winter schedules on particular
dates. BA can often be booked much earlier. You can sign up
for email broadcasts and be notified as flights are released.
- If ticket costs are very high consider an alternative route, via Amsterdam,
Paris or Frankfurt. The extra time may be worth the cost saving.
- Fly on a Friday and stay in Geneva overnight. The saving may give
you a "free" extra day's holiday. Likewise, consider leaving
on a Sunday or Monday to save money on your flights.
- Late night flights can save you money. On the other hand your airport
transfer will cost more and the later in the day the more chance of
delays.
- If you need to park your car at your departure airport, consider staying
at a hotel overnight if they let you park your car free, it may be
cheaper.
- Don't forget to check the dates on your passport - you may be surprised
how often people overlook this.
