Below are directions from Calais to La Moussière. If you need directions from anywhere else - or to Chalet Darbon - then please don't hesistate to get in touch:

From the ferry port or tunnel, follow signs to Reims on the A26/E17.

At Reims, follow the signs to Troyes and Dijon, again on the A26. At Troyes, follow the signs to Dijon. Once you have skirted round the edge of Dijon, follow signs for Dole on the A39, then Bourg-en-Bresse. Around Bourg-en-Bresse you will go past a service station with a large statue of a chicken outside.

At Bourg-en-Bresse you will pick up signs for Geneva, Chamonix, Milan-Turin. Follow these, which will soon become the A40, or the Autoroute Blanche. Keep following signs for Geneva (or Geneve), then the signs for Chamonix, Milan-Turin.

You'll need to get off at junction 15 of the A40, approximately five minutes after you've gone through a peage. It will be signposted to the Portes du Soleil and  Thonon-Evian. The road will bear round to the left, with a traffic light at the top. Turn left here, following the signs to the Portes du Soleil. You'll head up a slight rise, then follow signs again to the Portes du Soleil, Samoens and Taninges. Keep following these, which will take you over one roundabout and right at another, and you will find yourself driving up the Valley Giffre, which has Samoens at the end. After c. 25km you'll come into Taninges. Go straight through the town/ village and then follow the road round to the left, following the signs for Les Gets and Morzine-Avoriaz. It will look like a junction, but actually you have right of way.

You'll start climbing straight away, so just keep following the hairpins and heading for Les Gets. Once at Les Gets (c. 15 minutes), carry on through and follow signs for Morzine-Avoriaz. About five minutes the other side of Les Gets you'll come to a mini-roundabout, with the Hotel de Savoie on it. Turn left here, and St Jean d'Aulps will have appeared on a signpost, along with Thonon. Follow down, and you'll come to another mini roundabout. Go straight over here, and left at the next, still following signs to St Jean. You'll drive past a large Carrefour, and then a sign saying St Jean d'Aulps.

On entering St Jean you will go past a Credit Agricole and a Ski hire shop - Ski Flash - on the right. On the left you will drive past a campsite and then a new-ish looking building containing a number of apartments. There is a junction on the left between this building and a large, cream hospital building (MGEN). Turn left here, and follow the road over a bridge and up the hill. Turn right at the top and continue past the church for c.100m. The road will open into a large square; we are located at the back left of the square.
